Join us for The Meditative Foundations of Buddhism Weekend Residential Retreat, an inspirational retreat with Lama Michael Gregory at beautiful Quiet Mind Retreat in Julian, San Diego, September 10 – 12

“Genuine happiness comes from focussing on the happiness of others.” Clear and concise explanation  of the teachings, meditations and philosophies of the heart of the Buddha’s teaching will be offered. The weekend retreat will be shared by Lama Michael Gregory, former Buddhist Monk and Executive Director of Mindfulness Meditation Centers.

What Is The Retreat About

This retreat will explain how Buddhism is not just a way of thinking but a well-traveled path toward enlightenment. This comprehensive guide to the Buddhist path will be accessible and complete, regardless of background. Michael will break down the teachings down conveniently into practical and modern terms, while never letting us forget that the point of all the Dharma is nothing other than insight into the mind and heart.

What Will Be Taught

Essential, clear and heart opening instructions to introductory meditation will be offered. Along the way he will provide vivid living definitions of fundamental Buddhist concepts such as compassion, emptiness, and Buddha-nature and answers to common questions and misconceptions.

This weekend will be interspersed with fundamental meditation practices and much time will be reserved for questions and answers.

Schedule and Residential Retreat

All are welcome to attend beginners and seasoned meditators alike. Students are required to pre-register at the earliest convenience as space is limited and other preparations need to be made so that we all may enjoy a harmonious and restful retreat.

The daily schedule will offer one morning teaching session, several meditation sessions along with breakfast, lunch, tea and dinner breaks.

This is a residential retreat and will be held at our beautiful lakeside retreat, Quiet Mind Mountain Retreat Center in Julian California, only an hour away from San Diego California. The retreat offers a large mediation and yoga room, beautiful Buddhist themed accommodations, a spa, jacuzzi and library.

  • 2 Nights Accommodation in a Lake or Hilltop Suite at Quiet Mind Retreat

      Each suite has its own private bathroom, balcony with lake or        mountain views and coffee and tea and wellness amenities            with a queen and twin rollaway bed

  • Teachings and guided meditation will be offered in the yoga and meditation room daily with Lama Michael 
  • Healthy organic vegetarian meals will be provided 3 times a day 
  • Access to the gym, jacuzzi, library and yoga room during the retreat
  • Hot coffee and tea every morning

Immersive monthly 1 Day or Weekend Retreats challenge old and unconscious habitual patterns and awaken new conscious ways of being and illuminate the joyful and radiant mind. 10 and 30 Day Retreats allow for deeper transformations, empowering insights and life changing shifts toward greater awareness and enlightened path and purpose.

One Day Wisdom Retreats are shared by wise and creative teachers integrating art, movement and mindfulness. Weekend retreats explore the core teachings of Buddhism in a modern context and are offered by Michael Gregory a Leading Teacher in the field of Buddhism and former Buddhist Monk.

10 day retreats offer an invitation to deeper practice foundation of mindfulness practice and into the Mahayana and Theravada School of Buddhism.

30 Day Retreats offer advanced practices and teachings from Tantra, Dzogchen and Mahamudra on the nature of mind and practices of complete enlightenment.

Regular 1 day and weekend retreats are held each month, and longer term retreats (10 and 30 days) are held each year at Quiet Mind Mountain. 

We also offer the option of Video Retreats that can be done at the center through a unique specialized package and can be done at your own pace.

Accommodations for retreats are available at the center but require advanced booking.
